I've joined in Free Motion Friday with Cindy of Fluffy Sheep Quilting. See Cindy's blog on the right. Each Friday we have a week to piece another, different, free motion. This week's was Shadow Lines. I think I used too small a sampler to try it out, but I soldiered on!! Try as I might to get the lines to curve they still look straight. I wobbled a bit when I lost sight of the line behind the needle. I quite like the back of mine.

On the next one which looks interesting and challenging.
Irene - I think we had the same problem...I couldn`t get a lot of curve and I found it difficult when I couldn`t see ahead so I would end up pivotong the needle so that I was always pushing rather than pulling. I think our efforts look very similar and are good for first attempts. Onwards and upwards!
ReplyDeleteLove the back too! i struggled with the curves too but next week awaits! x
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job, well done.
ReplyDeleteVery good Irene. I must admit I would love to go to a group like that as I am scared to try free motion quilting!Maybe one day someone will do it in my area.
ReplyDeleteIrene, I love how uniform yours turned out! Mine was all over the place. Can't wait to have fun with next week's too!
ReplyDeleteI think yours are looking really neat and even :)
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem. Those lines would not stay curved, and the ones going backwards are definitely wobblier than the ones going forwards!
ReplyDeleteI think you have done really well, with the thick/thin contrast thing going really well. I am sure the curves will get better with practice.
ReplyDeleteI think what you did looks great! I too had the same issue - I couldn't see "around" the foot to see where I was going. I'm hoping using a bigger scrap will help this week. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeletehi Irene,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog. great.
i like your free motion quilting, both sides are pretty, front and back. I have to go and check that out.
