Scrappy Quilt

Sunray Quilters (a group of bereaved parents) have a meeting tomorrow and my friend Glenda and I have been working on a simple scrappy lap quilt for them to have a go at.  The first one is Glenda's gorgeous quilt made from scraps and recycled fabrics and wadding....

.... and mine is a smaller lap quilt made from scraps and a recycled white sheet....

Katy's Fab Fibre Postcard

Katy's fibre postcard to me was about climate change.  It is fabulous and I just love it.

Valentine

This month's Popular Patchwork postcard swap had three themes!  We could pick one or all of them.  Valentine, Climate Change or Leap Year.

Here's what I did for my swap partner Katy

Lines & Texture

I completed the second of my Super Samples for my Stitched Textiles course.  The background is Vilene where I have used transfer paint over a very large leaf.  The gold streaks is a Christmas ribbon cut into strips and stitched down.

......and here is a detail of the sample above.

Thank you Tangle

I'm really hooked on Zentangles now!!  Here's my second one which I have called 'Thank You'.  I thought that I would experiment with Shorthand outlines.  The original outline I made was the outline 'thank you'.  Those of you who know how to do shorthand may see it.  The bottom black and white section is the 'you'.

Must get on with some sewing now........  I've completed my second Super Sampler 'Lines & Texture'.  It's now ready for mounting into my Super Sampler sketchbook.  Next I have a fabric postcard to complete to send to Katy on Popular Patchwork postcard swap and a sample laptop to finish for the Sunray group.

Getting into a Tangle!

This morning at home I discovered Zentangles and I had such a surprise at my effort.  See..............

Then in the morning I, along with some of my friends, went to a shopping centre called Bluewater where there is a Creative Stitching and Hobbycraft show.   And would you believe that in the afternoon as I was going around the card making stands there in front of me was a Zentangle stand.  Well I was over the moon to say the least as I was looking for a book which could tell me more about this particular art.  I bought a pack which contains a book, card, pens and other goodies.  I can't wait to start doing some more stuff.
